The music ministry plays a vital role in the life of the parish at St. John's. A good way to participate in the Liturgy is through our music program. St. John's choirs are open to anyone who wants to join and there are no auditions. Some musical training and the ability to read music is helpful.
Sunday: The Sunday choir sings at the 9:15 a.m. Mass, September through Pentecost. The choir provides musical leadership during Sunday morning worship as well as major Solemnities and Feast Days.
Singing in the choir offers a great opportunity to develop vocal and musical skills and to sing great works of sacred choral literature of all styles and periods. Membership is open to all singers high school age and up.
ST. CECILIA FUNERAL CHOIR
The St. Cecilia choir performs a valuable service to the parish community by singing at funeral liturgies. Members of this choir of course must be available on short notice. Rehearsals generally are one hour prior to the funeral.
The schola prepares Gregorian chant for special Masses throughout the year. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed.
